Frequently Asked Questions

Who Can Practice Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA)

BFA is just one protocol in a therapy known as auriculotherapy (also known as ear acupuncture or auricular acupuncture). BFA falls under the scope of acupuncture and only those with acupuncture in their scope of practice can use this protocol. BFA is in no way a form of dry needling or even remotely close to it. Please do not use this protocol if acupuncture is not in your scope of practice.

Use your state or country regulatory website for the only and final answer to this question. A compilation of these websites can be found in Acufinder.

Is Battlefield Acupuncture the same thing as the NADA eardetox protocol?

No.

What about ear seeds?

I am certified in an ear seeds program, can I use the BFA protocol?  The BFA protocol is implemented by using needles and therefore falls under both FDA and State Regulations in the USA. Adjunctive techniques such as seeds may be used but do not replace the primary protocol.

What about dry needles?

Coming soon.
